What is the Swing Weight of a club?: Simply put, swing weight is how heavy the golf club feels when you swing it. Have you ever swung a club that just felt absolutely right through your swing? It felt great in your hands and felt effortless to swing instilling confidence shot after shot. That my friends is “swing weight”. To most casual golfers don’t give much thought to swing weight but to a club builder it is of utmost importance.
How is Swing Weight Measured?: Swing weight is not a finite measurement and is not measured in units such as grams that are used for shafts, grips, and club heads. Swing weight is measured by using a specific scale that measures the balance over the entire length of the club. This form of measurement was invented in the early 1920’s and is still used today.
What can All Square do to help with Swing Weight Adjustments?: First and foremost we can help educate you on swing weight and determine what swing weight is best for you based off factors such as your playing ability, gender, and age. Swing weights can be adjusted by adding tungsten, lead tape, plug weights, and other methods. All Square can also alter clubs by lengthening or shorting clubs but keep in mind this will dramatically effect the swing weight of your club and other adjustments may need to be made as well.
